A FAIRY EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR HOLIDAYS

Birdwatching.

To date, 333 bird species have been recorded on Lesvos, out of the 455 found in Greece. The island is considered one of the best places in the Mediterranean for birdwatching and has been a renowned destination for birdwatchers from all over Europe since the 1990s. The great diversity of bird species is due to the island’s geographical location, which attracts birds migrating in spring and autumn, as well as species with a Mediterranean or Asian distribution (for example, those that extend as far as Asia Minor). Another key factor is the variety of habitats found on Lesvos — wetlands, pine forests, olive groves, shrublands, rocky formations, and small islets — all providing ideal conditions for different species.
Most birdwatchers visit the island in spring, and to a lesser extent in autumn, during the two major migratory periods when European birds travel to and from Africa. During their stay, visitors aim to spot and photograph as many species as possible, using binoculars and telescopes. For more information follow the link https://www.lesvosbirds.gr/en
